Annual Parish Meeting
This community event will be held at Court Bushes Community Hub, Willow Way, Hurstpierpoint on Tuesday 17th May at 7pm. This year’s theme is “Working Together for our Community” and we will be welcoming a range of community groups to share their work in a “freshers’ fair” format. We will be introducing the Parish Council annual report with time for questions, linking with the Think Hurst campaign led by our local traders, as well as listening to some exciting speakers.
Road Verges Update
Managing road verges better to provide connected habitats for insects, birds, reptiles and small mammals to live amongst a rich variety of flowering plants is becoming a biodiversity priority. We are hoping that our parish will be one of the first to trial a new research based WSCC road verge management scheme. This will initially involve three cuts a year using WSCC’s cut and collect machine, where the cuttings will be removed. This will eventually weaken the grasses allowing other plants to thrive. As before, when managing verges, road safety will always be a priority.
