St Lawrence Fair 2025 confirmed for 4th and 5th July! More details to come.

By Lona McDonald, Secretary

Preparation is picking up a pace for this year’s St Lawrence Fair - make sure you have the dates in your diary (4th & 5th July) - this year’s theme is ‘Happy Holidays.’ We’re hoping to run some of our usual events, but this is where we need you and your groups, organisations and businesses to get involved: PROCESSION: We’d love it if more groups could join the procession this year, children and adults alike; it’s such a great traditional part of the fair and we’d like to have more of you involved. It is mostly a walking procession so come along, join in the fun and be a part of the official opening of the fair. If you’d like to find out more email us at slf.procession@gmail.com.

KIDS DISCO: We’re still looking for a few volunteers to spend a couple of hours on the Friday evening helping out with the kids disco - without this it may not go ahead. Please get in touch at stlawrencefair@gmail.com.

TUG OF WAR: Always popular, let’s make it a real competition this year with a few more teams joining in. Get your team together and register your interest by dropping us an email at stlawrencefair@gmail.com. It would be great to have a couple of heats before the grand final, with the winning team taking on all the kids in the audience.

STALLS HOLDERS: there are still some slots available - to book please get in touch at stlawrencefair.stalls@ gmail.com; we’d love to see you at the Fair. Thank you!

Foodbank in Hurstpierpoint expands during cost-of-living crisis

Hurstpierpoint Foodbank have re-opened their collection service, as demand increases due to the cost-of-living crisis. As well as the Friday delivery option, that was initiated during the covid lockdowns, for a trial period users will again be able to collect food in person from Court Bushes Community Hub, Willow Way.

The Foodbank will be open for collections from Court Bushes from 10am – 12pm every Thursday. The Melting Pot Café is also open at this time so free tea, coffee and cake are available as well as cup-a-soup and toast. The Foodbank distributes food through a referral system and provides enough food for a family for three days. Alternatively, people can come down to Court Bushes on a Thursday morning and talk to foodbank staff directly. Staff understand that reaching out for help in this way can be difficult and aim to treat users with discretion and kindness.
Additionally, a new partnership between the owners of Gibson greengrocers and the Foodbank is now giving those using the Foodbank access to fresh fruit and vegetables during the trial period. A voucher will be provided by the Foodbank to be used in the shop on Hurstpierpoint High Street.

Food parcels can also be requested through the following partner agencies:
