Mid Sussex District Plan 2021- 2039
The District Council has published a draft Plan for consultation from 7th November to 19th December 2022. Our concerns are:
• The disproportionate number of new homes proposed in the local area.
• Two of the three significant sites for the whole of the district will be located here.
• 8,169 additional new homes are needed across the district when compared to the existing plan which ends in 2031.
• There must be a higher regard to the individual character and history of our downland villages.
• There must be greater protection against the merging of all the separate settlements.
• Sayers Common and Albourne must be protected to maintain a separate identity for these two settlements. • 4,033 of them could be built here (see below for the details).
• That is a staggering 49.4% of all new homes in Mid Sussex.
• The policies that protected development beyond the green circle around Burgess Hill must be retained so the parish does not become a suburb of Burgess Hill.
